Two Waterford-based producers, who are part of Food Academy in SuperValu, have been recognised at Ireland’s biggest food awards.
Coffee House Lane and Legacy Irish Cider, both scooped a Silver in their categories at the recent Blás awards.
Coffee House Lane is a family-owned and run coffee roastery, named after a small street that runs adjacent to the riverfront. In 1690, John Aikenhead sold Ireland's first commercial cup of coffee there. They select only the finest green Arabica coffee beans from all over the world and slowly roast them to a medium-dark roast in small batches, delivering a smooth and rich-flavoured coffee.

Legacy Irish Cider produces a range of fermented natural crisp ciders, using natural wild l yeasts from local handpicked apples. The Legacy Medium Cider, which took home the Silver award, is a little dry with a lovely balance between sweet and dry. It starts off a little sweet, has a green apple sharp note and finishes with a lingering dryness.
Now in its 16th year, the Blás na hÉireann awards is the biggest annual competition for quality Irish produce across the island of Ireland with thousands of products entered hoping to win Gold, Silver or Bronze Awards across 100 food and drink categories.

Without the hard work and commitment to quality from these Irish food producers, we would not have the excellent range of award-winning products available in SuperValu stores.
