Three Waterford girls seek donations to get to World Surf Championships

Three Waterford surfers are seeking donations to get to the World Junior Surf Championships.

Evelyn, Giorgi and Akiya have been selected to take part in the championship, which is taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this November 2023.

It's the 19th time the championships have taken place, with the best junior surfers from all over the world set to contend for medals.

The trio, who have so far raised €845 through a Go Fund Me fundraiser, need €3,000 each to cover the trip.

On their Go Fund Me, they state, "We are all very excited for this unique opportunity and to be part of the Irish Junior Surf team. We need to fundraise €3000 each to cover our trip.

"Any donations and all support is very much appreciated."
