Late this evening and tonight, Storm Betty will bring south to southwest gales with severe gusts of up to 130 km/hr, leading to a severe weather wind warning alert from Waterford City & County council.
Spells of heavy rain and possible coastal flooding have been forecast.
Potential impacts of the weather in Waterford could include structural damage, falling trees, travel disruption, power outages, localised flooding and wave overtopping.
The expected weather conditions has led to a Status Orange - Wind and Rainfall warning being issued by Met Éireann for Cork, Waterford and Kilkenny.
