The event is free, and people are welcome to pop in to Dungarvan Enterprise Centre any time between 10am and 1pm on June 21.
THE MIXED Reality research team in Walton Institute, South East Technological University (SETU), will provide an open demonstration workshop at Dungarvan Enterprise Centre next week.
Attendees will gain an insight into the diverse commercial applications and how such technologies can be utilised in their business, while having the opportunity to use state-of-the-art virtual and augmented reality equipment.
The workshop will be informal allowing attendees to freely chat to technical experts in this space, try various mixed reality equipment and experience its broad potential first hand.
Walton Institute hosts a mixed reality lab offering an all-in-one space for exploring the use of interactive technologies and tools, right here in Waterford.
This enables companies to not only become familiar with the technology but also, with the aid of Walton Institute’s team of mixed reality experts, to investigate how these technologies and concepts may be used to benefit their business and research use cases.
Speaking about the benefits of this workshop, Professor Bill O’Gorman, Chairperson, Dungarvan Enterprise Centre, said “Most people think of Virtual Reality (VR) or Mixed Reality (MR) devices as merely toys for young people, special effects for science fiction movies or something that is imaginary and not relevant to businesses.
However, the fact is that mixed reality is actual and, when used in the right way, can bring enormous benefits to businesses. They are applicable in finance, retail, healthcare, tourism, hospitality, manufacturing, utilities, education, and so on. So don’t block your organisation’s future by ignoring the present. Come along to the workshop and see how VR and MR can benefit your business and organisation.”
The event is free, and people are welcome to pop into Dungarvan Enterprise Centre any time between 10am and 1pm on June 21.
If you are interested in investigating the use of mixed reality within your organisation, the Enterprise Ireland Technology Gateway team in Walton Institute will be on hand to guide you through funding options available.
The workshop is kindly-sponsored by Dungarvan Enterprise Centre and Dungarvan Chamber of Commerce.
