Gardaí in Waterford are seeking the public's assistance with this ongoing investigation. The suspect is thought to be between 25 - 35 yrs of age, slim build and drives a small black car. His MO is to park his car and walk through estates trying car doors as he goes. Unfortunately, many of the thefts are from unlocked doors.
If you notice anyone acting suspiciously late at night in your area, please take details and report to your local Garda Station or the crime unit at Dungarvan Garda Station.
The advice this week is around vehicle safety
· Always lock your doors of the vehicle and ensure the alarm, if fitted is on and working.
· Don't leave valuables on show and if possible remove them from the vehicle.
· If you have to store tools etc in the vehicle consider enhancing the locks. There are lots of options available from your local locksmith.
· Store keys safely and away from doors and windows. Consider using a faraday bag to prevent the key's signal from being copied, a biscuit tin would also work.
