The Waterford hurlers will be looking to register their first win of the 2025 season when they meet Kilkenny in a challenge match this Saturday.
Freezing cold and icy conditions wreaked havoc with GAA fixtures last weekend, however, Waterford were one of the lucky ones after they took on Cork in a fundraiser in aid of the Friends of Brian Greene and Waterford Hospice at Fraher Field in a fixture that was brought forward from its original 5pm time to 2pm due to the weather forecast.
The Rebels came out on top on a 1-15 to 0-10 scoreline, in what was the Déise's first outing of the year.
The Cats were initially scheduled to get their season underway with a challenge game against Dublin in Tinryland GAA in Carlow last Sunday but, like many other games around the country, it fell foul to the deteriorating weather conditions.
The neighbouring counties were originally due to clash at Young Irelands GAA club in Kilkenny, but the game will now be played in the Piltown GAA grounds at 2.30pm.
Saturday’s clash is scheduled to be an all-ticket affair with a portion of proceeds from the game going to the Carlow and Kilkenny HomeCare Team. Tickets can be purchased here.
