It has been announced that €3,302,602 million will be provided to Waterford GAA for the continued redevelopment of Walsh Park.
The funding will be provided to the Waterford County board for the further development of Walsh Park – building on the department’s previous allocation of €3.75m in 2020.
The funding was announced today by Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport & Media, Catherine Martin as part of round two of the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure fund.
Speaking after the announcement, Green Party TD for Waterford Marc Ó Cathasaigh said:
"I’m delighted to welcome this grant of €3.3m under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund announced today by my Green Party colleague, Minister Catherine Martin. I’ve been working closely with Minister Martin to get this funding across the line. The works to date in revamping the Walsh Park complex between widening the pitch and improving the spectator facilities have been concrete steps along the road towards giving Waterford GAA the home it so richly deserves right in the heart of some of our city’s strongest hurling communities."
