Two men have been arrested after a number of cars were damaged in Dungarvan last week.

On Wednesday last, March 27, two Toyota Aqua hatchbacks, both 171, had windows damaged. The first vehicle
was parked on Strand Street and the damage was discovered at 8.30am the morning after.

The second vehicle was parked on Grattan Square and the damage was discovered 4pm when the owner returned to the vehicle.

Later on that evening, a third vehicle, a 211 Tesla, was interfered with on Church Street, Dungarvan. A passerby noticed two males acting suspiciously by the vehicle, they phoned the gardaí with a description and a short time later the
gardaí arrested two males.

They were conveyed to Dungarvan Garda Station where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984

An investigation is ongoing and a file is being prepared.

"We would like to remind the public of the importance of reporting suspicious activity either on the 999/112 phone lines, directly to your local Garda Station or via the confidential line on 1800 666 111 which is a recorded message service.

"You can also contact us through the Garda.ie website. But is you see a crime being committed please phone 999/112," a Garda statement read.
