Tributes paid following sad death of popular Waterford man who was 'a great character'

Tributes have poured in following the sad death of Michael Robinson, a popular Waterford man who has been described as "a great character" and  "one of life's true gentleman".

Michael, late of Larchville, Lisduggan, and formerly Keane's Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 1, in the tender care of the amazing staff of St. Aidan’s ward, Waterford Residential Care Centre.

He is predeceased by his son Paul, parents Sammy and Julie, brothers Sammy and Freddie.

Michael is deeply regretted by his loving wife Angela, adoring children Michael, Marie, Angela, Eileen, Amanda, Dawn and Ian, Michael will be fondly remembered by his 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, sons in law, daughters in law. Sisters Peggy, Marie and Nellie, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Michael, with one mourner writing,

"So sorry to hear of the death of Mickey great old memories of long ago we used have the laugh and the craic. Sincerest sympathies to Angela the boys and girls and all your grand and great grandchildren. Rest in peace Mickey, you were a great character."

Another wrote,

"A lovely easy going man who loved the soccer. A bit of a revelation when he arrived in Grannagh as he managed the change a team of 'nearly men' into a successful league winning side. May himself and Ducksie RIP."

While another wrote,

"So sad to hear of the passing of Mickey. A legend. A great character that we had so many laughs with - most especially when he led us as manager to win the league with Bolton. Sincere condolences to all the Robinson family. Rest in peace Mickey."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at Thompson's Funeral Home, Barrack St, Waterford on Tuesday (3rd June) from 7pm to 8:30pm with vigil prayers and Rosary at 8pm.

House Private Please.

Michael's funeral cortege will walk from Fr. Gregory Way on Wednesday (June 4) to St. Paul’s Church, Lisduggan, Waterford for Requiem Mass on arrival at 10am followed by burial in St. Otterans Cemetery, Waterford.

Mass will be live streamed at 10am on Wednesday by following this Funeral Service link.
