'A true gent' - Sadness in Waterford following passing of popular photographer

It is with sadness to announce the death of devoted family man and popular photographer from Waterford, Leo Murphy, who passed away on Saturday April 12, 2025.

Late of Knockboy, Co Waterford, Leo was a devoted husband to Linda, the best dad to David and Gina, and the greatest brother and uncle to the extended Murphy and Walsh families.

The heartfelt message on Leo's RIP.ie page says,

"He captured thousands of the happiest moments of people in Waterford, but he was definitely happiest when surrounded by his family, friends, and his framing.

"So, raise a glass, look at photos you may have in your homes and businesses, and remember Leo as the kind, caring gentleman."

Many other tributes have been left by those who knew and fondly remembered Leo over the years, with one mourner writing,

"Condolences to Linda David & Gina and all the extended family ,we as a family were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Leo. Tony & Leo were friends since school days and were neighbours on the Cork Rd and shared many happy times together, Leo was dedicated to his family and his work and was always excellent at what he did."

While another wrote,

"Sincere condolences to Leo's family on his passing regularly met him walking with our dog's A Gentleman taken too soon rest in peace Leo"

Funeral Arrangements

Leo’s Requiem Mass will take place on Sunday, April 27, at St Mary’s Church, Ballygunner, Waterford, at 3pm, followed by private family cremation.

The Murphy family will walk from the family home at approximately 2:30 pm to arrive for Leo’s Funeral Mass at 3pm. House is strictly private for family only.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kevin Bell Trust would be greatly appreciated in gratitude for their incredible care and support in bringing Leo home.

The Murphy family appreciates your sympathy, support and understanding at this difficult time.​
