‘We are back’ - Date confirmed for reopening of much-loved Waterford department store

Guineys has confirmed that it will reopen its Waterford premises next week
The date has been confirmed for the reopening of a much-loved department store in Waterford city.
Guineys has confirmed that it will reopen its doors at its George’s Street premises on Friday, July 24.
In a post on social media, a spokesperson for the store said: “We are back! Looking forward to welcoming you all in store on Friday, July 24 at 9:30am.”
The post also contains a poster image which includes messages such as “your store, refreshed and ready for you” and “same great style, even better experience”.
There was a huge amount of reaction from the local community to the post, with over 150 comments welcoming the news.
Guineys closed suddenly in December of last year following a fire at the premises.
At the time, no indication was given as to how long the business would be closed for.
Since then, Guineys’ Facebook page has been flooded with comments from loyal customers wondering when the store will reopen.
However, in recent weeks, a poster has been put up on the door of the premises, which says that the shop will be opening again soon.
The poster encouraged customers to follow Guineys’ social media channels for further updates on the reopening.
