The team at a well-known Waterford hotel is celebrating this week after being crowned Best 3 Star Hotel in Ireland at the prestigious CIÉ Tours Awards of Excellence.

Dooley’s Hotel on Waterford’s Quayside picked up the Gold Award at the annual ceremony, which recognises outstanding Irish hotels and tourism experience operators based on direct feedback from CIÉ Tours customers.

Now in their 34th year, the awards are regarded as a major honour within the tourism industry and are based entirely on post-stay reviews from tens of thousands of travellers.

Speaking about the win, Tina Darrer of Dooley’s Hotel said the recognition meant even more because it came directly from guests.

“This recognition means so much to us because it comes directly from our guests. It reflects the care, consistency and pride our entire team brings to their work every day.

“To be recognised by CIÉ Tours for the fourth time and for the second consecutive year for delivering a warm, authentic Irish welcome alongside high standards of service is incredibly rewarding, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported and stayed with us over the years,” she said.

Dooley’s beat off strong competition in one of the most competitive categories at the awards to claim the top prize.

CIÉ Tours said the awards celebrate the very best of Irish hospitality, chosen by guests themselves.

“We are proudly celebrating the very best of hospitality – chosen by our guests. The incredible hotels, attractions, restaurants, and local experiences that make every CIÉ Tours journey unforgettable,” a spokesperson said.

The tour operator revealed it achieved an overall guest satisfaction rating of 95% in 2025, describing it as “a true testament to the warmth, dedication, and excellence of our tourism partners across Ireland”.
