Bright day forecast for Waterford with possible thunderstorms and flooding

Thunderstorms and some surface water flooding can't be ruled out today, according to Met Éireann.
It forecasts sunny spells and scattered showers today, heaviest and most frequent across Ulster and coastal counties in the east this afternoon, where isolated thunderstorms as well as some surface water flooding can't be ruled out.
However, despite the warning little rain is forecast for Waterford throughout the day.
Highest temperatures will range from 16 degrees in the northwest to 20 degrees in the southeast, in moderate to occasionally fresh westerly winds. This evening more persistent showery rain will extend into the west.
Highest temperatures will reach 21C in Waterford around 4pm.
Tonight the showery outbreaks of rain in the west will extend eastwards across the country, becoming patchier as it does so. It will be a mild night in many areas with temperatures not falling below 9 to 13 degrees in light west to southwest breezes.
Most areas will be drier tomorrow with long sunny periods, although a few showers will pop up again mostly over Ulster and may turn briefly heavy locally. In fresh west to northwest winds highs will reach just 15 to 19 degrees, though winds will ease in the evening.
