Two of Waterford's newest graduates mark proud milestone at MTU conferring ceremonies

Two Waterford students were among those celebrating their achievements at the Munster Technological University (MTU) Autumn 2025 conferring ceremonies in Cork last week.

The ceremonies, held over three days at the Bishopstown campus, saw more than 3,800 students graduate across a range of disciplines including engineering, business, science and the arts.

Families and friends gathered from across the country to mark the occasion, which recognised years of dedication and hard work by MTU students.

Oonagh Cynthia Nwankwo from Waterford City graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering, while Cappoquin native Cilian O'Connor received his Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Accounting.

Cilian was pictured celebrating with classmates Daniel Ojuolape (Midleton, Co Cork), Páraic O'Keeffe (Ballincollig, Co Cork) and Aaron O'Brien (Rosscarbery, Co Cork) at the Bishopstown campus.

More than 3,880 students will graduate from MTU's Cork and Kerry campuses this autumn, marking another milestone for the growing university which continues to play a key role in education and research across the south of Ireland.

This year's ceremonies reflected MTU's strong links to industry and innovation, with graduates recognised for achievements across engineering, science, business, creative arts and technology.
