Upgrades continue on Waterford town's wastewater network with fresh works underway

Waterford motorists are being advised of possible traffic delays in the weeks ahead as Uisce Éireann continues upgrading the wastewater network in a historic Waterford town.

Uisce Éireann has confirmed that extra issues were identified during recent works in Lismore, meaning a follow-on phase will now run until the end of September.

This next stage will see several storm gulleys connected into the new storm sewer, two manholes replaced, and more than 200 metres of new storm sewer installed.

The works will take place from the entrance of the hotel car park down to the water fountain feature, with a stop/go traffic management system in place to facilitate the project.

David Shalloo, Portfolio Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "These additional works are a necessary step in strengthening the wastewater network in Lismore and ensuring its long-term reliability.

"We're committed to delivering these upgrades as efficiently as possible while minimising disruption for the local community. We appreciate everyone's continued patience and cooperation as we carry out this important phase of work."

The project is being delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Shareridge, with Waterford County Council set to carry out reinstatement works on the affected stretch of the N72 once the upgrades are complete.
