Two men have appeared in court following a break-in to a vacant premises, earmarked for asylum seekers.

Gardaí charged the men who were arrested this Thursday, following the break-in on the High Street in Tallaght, Dublin 24, just after midnight on Wednesday.

The men, aged in their 30s and 40s, have since appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice.

The site was targeted in a petrol bomb attack earlier in the week, following multiple local protests against the housing of migrants at the vacant building.

It was reported that the Department of Integration has confirmed that the property is to be used to house families seeking asylum and protests have taken place at the building in recent days.
