A young Irish man with a passion for sport has died unexpectedly recently, leaving many people shocked and devastated

A young Irish man has tragically passed away unexpectedly leaving a wave of shock and heartbreak across the country.

Grief is felt most strongly in the young man’s community in County Kerry where many people are mourning his devastating loss.

Ewan MacIndoe from Direen, Ballydribeen, Killarney, Kerry died unexpectedly on the 27th of May 2026.

He is dearly loved and sadly missed by his heartbroken parents David and Louise and his loving sister Amber. Much loved grandson of David and Sharon & Tom and Breda Holohan.

He is also very sadly missed by his loving family, godmother Lauren, godfather Ian, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours and many dear friends.

Messages have poured in from people across Kerry and beyond to pay tribute to the young man.

In particular, Killarney Celtic FC created a post on social media in honour of Ewan who was a valuable part of the club.

The message said: “It is with profound sadness that we learned this morning of the untimely passing of Ewan Macindoe, a long-standing member of both our underage and senior teams here at Killarney Celtic FC.

“The loss of someone close is always deeply painful, but the passing of one so young is truly heartbreaking. To say the club is devastated does not fully capture the shock and sorrow being felt throughout our entire community today”.

The post continues and says: “Ewan came from a family with a proud and long association with Killarney Celtic. He was a vibrant, kind-hearted and well-liked young man who was greatly valued by his teammates, coaches and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

“His loss leaves an enormous void both on and off the field. At this incredibly difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with his parents David and Louise, his sister Amber, grandparents David Snr and Sharon and Tom and Breda Holohan, godmother Lauren, godfather Ian, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours, team and wide circle of dear friends.

“We cannot begin to imagine the pain and heartbreak they are enduring, and we offer them our deepest and most sincere condolences,” the club said.

One mourner on RIP.ie commented: “We don’t have the words to help ease the pain of your loss. We are numb from the news of Ewan’s passing.

“A talented and handsome lad with a smile and a glint in his eye, whether at Celtic, Legion or on the street, he always brightened the place up. To all his friends, relations, teammates, classmates, caddies- sorry for your loss too. Rest in Peace, Ewan”.
