Man and woman arrested after gardai find guns and ammunition during search

A man and a woman have been arrested after guns, ammunition and a replica grenade were found during a Garda search in Co Wicklow.

In a statement, An Garda Siochana said a home near Baltinglass was searched on Monday.

A man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were arrested at the scene and are being detained at a Garda station in Wicklow under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

Army explosive experts attended the scene and a cordon was put in place but the area has now been declared safe.

Gardai say investigations are ongoing and the recovered firearms will be subject to further technical and ballistic analysis.
