The motorist was also driving with no lights on

Gardaí pulled over a dangerous driver on Tuesday while on road patrol in Limerick when they noticed him using his phone while driving without any lights on.

When pulled over they discovered the irresponsible motorist was an unaccompanied learner driver.

Upon a further search they shockingly found cocaine, bags for supplying cocaine, and €1,100 in cash.

In a post on X, Gardaí said,

"Gardaí on patrol in Dooradoyle, Limerick last night pulled in this unaccompanied learner driver after they saw him using the phone while driving a car that had no lights on.

"Cocaine, bags for supplying it and €1,100 in cash was discovered when the car was searched."

Earlier this week, another motorist was stopped on Irish roads after they were found to be committing a multitude of offences while being high on drugs.

The dangerous driver was stopped by Gardaí in Roscommon on Monday after a quick scan found no tax, insurance or NCT. Once the driver was pulled over, Gardaí conducted a roadside drugs test and the irresponsible driver tested positive for cocaine and opiates, which could from heroin or powerful pain relievers such as Oxycontin.

The car was immediately seized, the driver was arrested, and a court date will follow.
