While a third of the population hope for concert tickets for Christmas, Revolut warns concert ticket scams are high risk this festive season

Revolut, the global financial app and European-licensed bank, has issued a warning to its customers amid an increasing number of concert ticket scams.

The warning by Revolut, which has almost 2 million Irish users, comes as major acts, including Oasis, The Script, Justin Timberlake, David Gray, Robbie Williams, and Charlie XCX will all play concerts across Ireland in 2025.

Revolut has said that they have "identified a 27% rise in the total amount lost to ticket scams in Ireland in the last fortnight of November compared with the first two weeks of the month."

David Eborne, Head of Fraud Operations at Revolut, said: “We know that for youngsters in particular, tickets for some of next year’s hottest concerts would make their Christmas. However, these are naturally hard to come by and we urge our customers to be cautious when on the hunt for gig tickets around this time of year."

“Sadly, criminals capitalise on the scarcity of these tickets and people’s fear of missing out — therefore avoid panic buying when doing any last-minute Christmas shopping and only purchase tickets from trusted ticketing platforms that offer their own protections against fraudulent sellers.”

Revolut stated that it takes fraud and the industry-wide risk of customers being coerced by organised criminals incredibly seriously.

It has "invested heavily in its Financial Crime team, which now makes up more than a third of the company’s total global workforce of 10,000+ employees."

In 2023, Revolut has stated that it "prevented over £475m (€550m) in potential fraud against its customers while consistently working on updating protections to stay a step ahead of fraudsters."
