Waterford's Blooms Café is Ireland's first Amsterdam-style cannabis café.
An Amsterdam-style cafe “specialising in high quality cannabis and coffee” is proving popular in Waterford city.
Blooms Café on 50 John Street launched last month, serving vegan food and organically grown cannabis.
A spokesperson for Blooms Café told Waterford Live that the cannabis strains are 100% legal and that the cafe is “the first of its kind in the country and is popular with the locals”.

The spokesperson said: “It’s all perfectly legal. We are selling cannabis that has high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) and it is below the legal limit of 0.2% THC.
“High CBD strains are perfect for those who want a relaxing and calming experience, but who do not want the mind altering effects that is caused by THC, the compound found in illegal cannabis.
“CBD does not impair mental function or increase heart rate and is non-toxic. It is proven to be not addictive, it is natural to our bodies and natural to every climate on the planet.
“It is ideal for the fast moving society that we live in and it can be understood to be like aromatherapy or herbology. It is a plant that is full of beautiful flavonoids and terpenes like lavender or limonene".
Blooms Café thanked the local community for their support since opening. Renovations are almost complete at the cafe and “top quality” new cannabis strains are on the way. "We would also like to express our gratitude to all of the relevant authorities for working with us and enabling us to bring this amazing product and experience to you in Waterford."
Blooms Café also advised anyone with an underlying health condition to consult a medical professional before using their products.
