There are 14 people on trolleys and the ward at University Hospital Waterford on Friday (August 17), according to the latest trolley and ward watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.
The nationwide figure is 316, a decrease of 11% on the same day last year when there were 355 patients on trolleys.
The hospitals with the highest numbers today are University Hospital Galway (34), University Hospital Limerick (29) and Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore (29).
Other figures for Friday include South Tipperary General Hospital (1), Wexford General Hospital (14) and Kilkenny's St Luke's Hospital (16).
