Waterford hospital overcrowding has gotten worse in the past 24 hours

University Hospital Waterford (UHW) has 40 patients on trolleys and the ward today (Tuesday), according to the latest trolley and ward watch figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

Tuesday's figure for UHW is an increase on yesterday when there were 36 patients on trolleys and the ward. 

525 admitted patients are waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO trolley watch, an increase of 2% on the same day last year when there were 514 patients on trolleys. 366 are waiting in the emergency department, while 159 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The only hospitals worst-hit today than UHW are University Hospital Limerick (55), Letterkenny University Hospital (54) and 
University Hospital Galway (46).
