A 28-year-old man is being detained at Waterford Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act following an assault at a house on Gracedieu Road in the city on Tuesday morning (July 17).
A woman in her early 20s was brought to University Hospital Waterford with facial injuries. It is believed that the woman was attacked with a knife. A forensic examination is being carried out and Gardaí are searching for a weapon.
