Waterford City Fire Service responded to a fire on Thursday.
Waterford City Fire Service had a very busy Thursday night (July 12) tackling an extensive gorse/wildland fire in the city.
Their resources were put to the test but the fire was brought under control fast by a combined effort from full-time and retained crew members.
"Remember to heed the warnings on all media outlets by the Department. We have not had any significant rainfall for over 40 days, all wildland and scrubland are tinder dry and any spark can set off a fire. Please do not discard cigarettes, glass and please dispose of all bbq paraphernalia properly and make sure it is cool before leaving it,” a Waterford City Fire Service said.
