Waterford City Fire Service tackle more gorse and grass fires.
Waterford City Fire Service tackled more gorse and grass fires on Saturday (July 7).
"We are dealing with a lot of grass, gorse and woodland fires lately - we are experiencing some caused by the heat and some malicious," a spokesperson said.
"We are very lucky to have two 4x4 jeeps, one of which is fitted with an on-board water tank which has a powerlance and an under vehicle spray bar fitted. It is extremely useful for these types of fires as sometimes we cannot get a conventional fire appliance near enough to deal with it.
"Remember if you see a fire, no matter the size or location, get us notified as soon as possible. Do not assume somebody already has. Call 999/112," a spokesperson added.
Waterford City Fire Service also responded to an emergency involving two people in the River Suir and assisted HSE ambulance crew at the scene of a cardiac arrest on Saturday night in Waterford city centre.
