Lismore Library will be closed from 8am on Monday, September 14 until 6pm on Friday, September 18

Waterford City and County Council has announced that Lismore Library will close for five days in September to facilitate essential remedial works on its heating system.

Waterford Libraries has confirmed the public facility will be closed from 8am on Monday, September 14 until 6pm on Friday, September 18, 2026, inclusive.

The temporary closure means visitors and members of the library will not be able to avail of access to the library’s regular in-person services during the planned closure.

The My Open Library service, which normally allows registered members to use the building outside of staffed opening hours, will also be unavailable for the duration of the works.

A public notice states the shutdown is required because of essential remedial work to the heating system at Lismore Library.

People who normally collect or return books, use computers or avail of reading and study facilities at the branch are being advised to note the closure dates when planning their visits.

The works on the heating system are scheduled to continue throughout the five-day closure period - click here for more information.

The local authority is apologising to customers for any inconvenience that may be caused by the closure of the library in Lismore.
